Company Fined for Unsafe Work at Height

A roofing company in Surrey has been fined for unsafe work at height. Workers were seen walking on a fragile roof. The workers, according to concerned members of the public, don’t have any fall protection.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has investigated the complaints on March 19, 2012. When an HSE inspected arrived at the worksite, he saw evidence of work on the roofline without any precautions in place to prevent or mitigate a fall to the concrete floor below the ground.

Industrial Roofing (Surrey) Limited was fined a total of £13,400 and ordered to pay £9,167 in costs after pleading guilty to a single breach of the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
