Court Hears Appeal on Football Player’s Death

a football player walking in the football fieldThe parents of a University of Central Florida football player who died during a practice appeared at the Fifth District Court for appeal arguments on their son’s wrongful death case.

Ereck Plancer died in March of 2008 after collapsing on the UCF football field. In a lawsuit against the school’s athletics association, his parents Enoch and Giselle Plancher were awarded a $10 million verdict.

In their appeal, the school’s attorneys insist that Plancher signed a waiver and that the association and the school are not liable for his death. They also said that the UCFAA is part of the school which caps the damages at $200,000 per state law.
