Foster Mother Pleads Guilty in Death of an 8-month-old Child

Elizabeth Dawn Stone, 32 years old and a foster mother in northwest Arizona, pleads guilty in the accidental drowning death of 8-month-old David Whatahomigie. She and her fiancĂ© have been taking care of the baby for about three months before the baby’s death in September 2011.

According to reports, David and a 3-year-old were taking a bath. Stone left them unattended for about three to five minutes to take a telephone call but when she came back, the baby drowned. She pulled the baby from the water and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Stone had cared for 50 foster children without incident over the period of six years.
