Mechanical Failure Linked to Fatal California Limo Fire

Mechanical Failure Linked to Fatal California Limo FireA mechanical failure probably sparked the deadly limo fire that killed a bride and four others as they crossed a bridge over the San Francisco Bay last month.

Neriza Fojas, 31 years old and eight of her female friends were heading to a party to celebrate her upcoming wedding. Fojas had married Carlo Moya in a civil ceremony in Las Vegas last year but the couple planned a church wedding in the Philippines for June 19.

On the trip to the party, however, the Lincoln Town Car they were riding burst into flames when air springs in the rear of the limo ruptured setting off a chain of events that caused the fire according to ABC7 News. Five women, including Fojas, died as they tried to escape the burning vehicle while the four other women suffered burns or smoke inhalation but they have managed to survive the fire.
