Safety Tips for When Driving Near Schools

Safety Tips for When Driving Near SchoolsWhen teenagers get their driver’s license, they may start driving themselves to and from school. It’s important to teach your driving teens to keep safe when on the road, not just on the highway but at all times. Special caution must be taken when driving by a school or towards their high school grounds as a lot of foot traffic will be around, especially on mornings when classes are set to start and afternoons as another school day comes to a close.

Here are more safety tips to follow when driving near a school:
  • Drive below the speed limit posted on the signs by schools.
  • Pay attention to flashing lights to warn drivers to slow down.
  • Stop for all school buses, even if their flashing lights are not on.
  • Drive slow especially during the hours of 7 am to 9am, and again from 2pm to 4pm.
  • Always stop at crosswalks.
