Studying Moose-Car Accidents

Moose are quite common in Alaska. There is always the chance for them to wander on the roads there and increase the likelihood of an accident. The DOT is looking for ways on how to reduce the number of moose-car accidents.

They are currently seeking funding for the study. DOT Regional Traffic Engineer Scott Thomas said that the Sterling Highway, Kalifornsky Beach Road and Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla will be the highlights of the study.

According to Dan Schwartz for the Peninsula Clarion, “DOT hopes to begin the study this winter, and it would be completed in one to two years, Thomas said.”
