Transport Company Sentenced After Mechanic’s Death

Mark Wintersgill, 25 years old from Broughton Astley, Leicester, was attempting to jack up the axle of a double decker HGV trailer at PPR Transport Services when the jack separated from the axle and hit him. He died at the scene because of head injuries.

The owner of the transport company, Paul Anthony Roberts, has been sentenced for safety failings after the mechanic’s death. Roberts was responsible for ensuring that work at the site was assessed and controlled properly with suitable safety measures, training, and equipment available.
